It’s time for a new semester of discovering passions, getting creative, and embracing healthy drama. Oh, yes, that means confident kids with new friends and valuable life skills are waiting in the wings! If you’re ready for your kids to learn to express themselves positively and find their place to shine in front of a supportive audience, you’re ready for the Pumphouse Theatre fall drama classes. They offer excellent drama education programs for children and teenagers.

Pumphouse Theatre was started in the early 1970s to provide Calgarians with an affordable place to enjoy creative arts. They offer both theatre productions and a drama education program. These vibrant classes are a great introduction to drama basics, offering a host of skills for every child. It’s all about learning how to communicate and express yourself, developing confidence and poise, and thinking outside the box. It’s imagination, self-discipline, and critical thinking skills. And at Pumphouse Theatre, it’s also about enjoying the arts, making new friends, and having loads of fun!

Fall Drama Programs

Telling stories, acting out their imagination, and having a wonderful time — all kids belong here! And no previous experience is necessary. Get the kids off screens and let their creativity run wild!

Theatre Arts Exploration: Ages 7 – 10
Saturdays, 10 AM – 12 PM; September 19 – November 28, 2026 (No class on October 10)
Class Fee: $300
This course is an all-inclusive exploration of the theatre arts. Students will be encouraged to discover a variety of dramatic techniques such as character creation, improvisation, movement, scene study, and more. Have a blast creating and performing an original final presentation for friends and family.

Acting FUN-Damentals: Ages 8 – 12
Sundays, 10 – 12 PM; September 20 – November 29, 2026 (No class on October 11)
Class Fee: $300
This course is designed to get students feeling confident and comfortable being on stage while learning the fundamentals of acting and collaborating with others. The focus will be on exploring scripted work that students will either choose or be given, rehearse and workshop and then perform in a final showcase.

Improvisation: Ages 11 – 14
Mondays, 6 – 8 PM; September 21 – November 30 2026 (No class on October 12)
Class Fee: $300
Improv is a great way to have fun and explore while bolstering creativity, adaptability, teamwork, and confidence. This course includes lessons in theatre sports, character development, storytelling, and many favourite improvisation games. Be inspired to think outside the box, learn something new, and have fun.

Fall Registration

Registration for the fall programs at Pumphouse Theatre is now open. You’ll receive an early-bird discount of $25 if you register and pay at least 30 days before classes start. You’ll also receive a $25 multi-child discount if you register more than one child from the same household. All discounts are not valid in combination with any other offers and cannot be combined with other available discounts.
