Alberta University of the Arts, Continuing Education offers fall and winter youth programs to nurture that innate spark of creativity. Kids and teens, aged 3 – 17, will experiment with hands-on learning guided by experienced artists and designers who are passionate about their art. This winter is the perfect time to inspire your future artist!
An early emphasis on creativity benefits kids in every way, supporting long-term cognitive functions like concentration and critical thinking. Engaging in creative activities, such as art classes, builds confidence and encourages self-expression while refining motor skills. It can also foster social connection and promote the release of feel-good chemicals like endorphins and dopamine.
Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) is one of only four art, craft, and design universities in Canada. Formerly Alberta College of Art & Design, they’ve been dedicated to innovative and emerging art, craft, and design programs for 100 years. It’s a vibrant community of thinkers, shapers, makers, and risk takers from around the world, and the only school of its type in Alberta.
Parent and Child Programs (Ages 3 – 8 + Adult)
Children aged 3 – 8 will enjoy parented classes introducing a variety of art mediums and techniques. These classes support early creativity and connection. Your child’s imagination will flourish as they explore art and create hands-on projects. Guided by an experienced art facilitator, you’ll experiment with simple techniques using clay, collage, and paint, while building your communication and confidence.
Kid Programs (Ages 9 – 12)
AUArts will be introducing on-campus art and design programs for kids ages 9 – 12 in the New Year. More information is coming to their website soon.
Teen Programs (Ages 13 – 17)
Teens aged 13 – 17 can get creative with programs designed just for them. AUArts offers a mix of online or on-campus programming, designed to fit into a busy schedule. The upcoming season holds courses like Level Up in 3D: Blender Basics and Crochet All Day.
It’s time to plan a creative winter! Register your child or teen for programs at Alberta University of the Arts. Imagine, create, and be inspired by fellow artists!
