What do I know about the science and history of Nordic spas?
Well, not much, but I was ready to experience the benefits! I visited Clear Nordic Spa on a busy Thursday, amid work, errands, and holiday planning. The parking lot was a sloppy, wintery mess and my mind was buzzing. But as I opened the door, I could tell that this was the antidote to the stresses of the season.
Conveniently located in the Signal Hill Centre, Clear Nordic Spa is a modern, newly-opened Nordic wellness experience. With over 4000 square feet of thoughtfully designed amenities, you can explore hot and cold therapies, saunas, and relaxation spaces in a serene, silent environment. It’s the perfect space to pause and allow yourself to be renewed, restored, and rejuvenated. Beginning on December 7, 2024, splurge for pure relaxation at Clear Nordic Spa. No chatter of little voices, no dinging of emails — just a session to immerse yourself in thermal therapy and remember to breathe.
We all need a moment to pause and a chance to be still. Stepping back from our busy lives allows us time to reflect, regroup, and recharge. As hard as it is to relax in the middle of raising kids, working, and running a life, it’s vital for our well-being and the health of our families.
Make Your Way To Relaxation
Donning my robe and sandals, I slipped into the silent spa area. Peaceful lighting and the muted tones of blue water and cedar wood provided a calming atmosphere. In the centre, you’ll find a hot pool and a cold pool, with areas to rest on either side. Around the pools are the saunas: an infrared sauna, a steam room, and a dry sauna. Hot showers and buckets of refreshing (cold!) water provide various ways to experience the hot/cold cycle.
I slipped into the hot pool, enjoyed the drip, drip, drip of the steam room, tried the cold plunge pool, and then sat in the dry sauna with its wonderful Saharan heat. I was only a half-hour into my two-hour session, and I wasn’t sure I even remembered how to relax. The spa itself is silent, forcing you to calm your brain. But the rhythm of hot and cold, with comfortable places to rest and listen to the soothing sounds of water, did its magic. I don’t know the science or history behind Nordic spas, but I can tell you one thing. Those two hours ended up going by way too quickly.
Moms and Dads, give yourself the gift of calm this year. It’s the perfect place to go with a partner or a friend. You can relax together — if you can do it quietly! — and then visit the Zen room, where you’re invited to visit and appreciate each other’s company. Cozy up in your robes, grab a beverage, and enjoy a therapeutic chat.
Bookings for the Clear Nordic Spa will open on December 6, 2024, with sessions beginning on December 7, 2024. Treat yourself this winter and leave the worries of life and parenting behind for a few hours.
Take a deep breath. And exhale.
