They don’t make things like they used to – unless you are talking about Pie Junkie Bakery and Cafe’s sweet and savoury pies.
Using family recipes spanning four generations and pairing her British father’s pastry skills and Italian mother’s culinary genius, Nancy, the owner, launched Pie Junkie to share her family’s fabulous pies. September 2025 saw Pie Junkie’s fifth Calgary location open in West District.
“Ten years ago, we set out to make pies the way they’re supposed to be made – by hand, with care, and with ingredients we’re proud of,” says Nancy Goemans, co-owner of Pie Junkie. “What started as a neighbourhood pie shop has grown into a citywide community of pie lovers who have been with us every step of the way. As we celebrate this milestone anniversary and open our fifth Calgary location, we’re reminded that pies aren’t just about pastry and filling; they’re about bringing people together. It has been a privilege to become part of people’s lives and traditions as we’ve celebrated a decade’s worth of Mother’s Days, Thanksgivings, Christmases, New Year’s Eves, Pi Days, and so much more.”
