Until recently, it had been over 5 years since I’d been at a ski resort. My husband and I were avid skiers pre-children, but downhill skiing seemed frightening with kids and we weren’t sure how to tackle a day at a ski hill with a baby or toddler in tow. One day at Nakiska Mountain Resort was all it took to show me that resort skiing is completely family-friendly and an awesome way to play in the mountains together as a family. Things have changed a LOT over the last 5 years and additions such as Tube Parks have made the ski experience even more fun for the whole family than it’s ever been before.
We got to try Nakiska’s brand new Tube Park while we were at the resort before Christmas. At first, I thought the park looked like a small toboggan hill but I quickly changed my opinion after the first ride down though. It was the most fun I’ve ever had on a sled or tube – and it didn’t hurt!

I’m not generally a big fan of sledding because my body feels too old to handle all the bumps and jarring anymore. Tubing at Nakiska on the other hand was very gentle and smooth on their special groomed track. I’d go back again any day!
My five year old son loved the experience as well and wasn’t scared in the slightest (which surprised me given the speeds you get up to.) The Tube Park is small with only two chutes but there was no line up the day we were there and my son was easily entertained for over an hour.

The Tube Park at Nakiska makes for a wonderful compliment to the beginner ski area which is conveniently located adjacent to the park, sharing one of the same magic carpet lifts. It would actually be quite hard to spend the day on the beginner hill at Nakiska without agreeing to let the kids try out the tube park.

Thanks to the Tube Park, we spent the whole day at Nakiska on our first family trip to a mountain ski resort. Between the beginner ski area, the tube park, and a few runs down the easy bronze chair, our day was happily filled up and we had a blast!!
