Birthdays can be expensive and families are busy once the temperatures start to warm up from late Spring to early Fall. More families are moving away from having birthdays in their homes due to space or the amount of time it takes to prepare, entertain, and clean up after having a gaggle of kids over, but it’s not always feasible to rent out pricey locations, either. That’s where outdoor birthdays come in!
There are plenty of great venues around the lower mainland that offer everything you need to host an exceptional birthday for any age: picnic tables, playgrounds, water park, bathrooms, and a covered space to rent. We’ve rounded up some free (or inexpensive) locations to host your next birthday. All you have to do is bring the cake!

Amenities: This cool park features a Nature House that provides information about the bog and interactive displays about nature and wildlife. Here you will find nature kits, a small collective of live animals, and a working beehive. There are also covered and uncovered picnic tables, a playground, a wildlife garden, a pond, and washrooms.
South Arm Park

Amenities: There are several locations with sheltered picnic tables in Stanley Park. Depending on the theme or general feel of the birthday, you may want to select one closest to the playground, a big open field, the Aquarium, or the Stanley Park Railway if the train opens again in 2023/2024.
