Calaway Park is the perfect summer destination — loads of fun, from rides to shows, without the stress of travel.
What is Calaway Park?
Calaway Park is Western Canada’s Largest Outdoor Family Amusement Park. The park opened in 1982 and has grown from a small amusement park to one of Calgary’s best attractions. The park has a collection of 32 rides and 19 midway games, plus live entertainment, the Cinemagic 3D theatre, the Haunted Hotel, and the CP Spray n’ Play splash pad. It’s fun for the whole family with numerous attractions, 20 food locations, top-notch entertainment, and rides for all ages. You can also find several discount options. Get your tickets online before you go, and save 20% with the Playcation online discount! You can also stop by any Calgary Co-op grocery store to purchase discount tickets.
The Calaway RV Park and Campground offers several packages, including the Stay n’ Play package, which includes 2 nights at the RV Park and Campground and 4 one-day tickets to Calaway Park. (Not available during Calgary Stampede).
Is there a Place to Stay at Calaway Park?
Speaking of the Calaway RV Park and Campground, you can plan an affordable staycation! The Calaway RV Park and Campground is just a short walk away, so you can spend the night under the stars and wake up with a view of the mountains. Of course, as Calaway Park is only 5 or 10 minutes from the western edge of the city, it’s convenient to almost anywhere!
When is Calaway Park Open?
Calaway Park is open May 16 to June 21, 2026, on weekends and holiday Mondays only, from 10 AM – 7 PM. Starting June 26, 2026, Calaway Park is open daily until August 30, 2026. They are also open 11 AM – 5 PM on weekends and holiday Mondays from September 5 to October 12, 2026.
What is There To Do at Calaway Park?
Kids of all ages love the rides at Calaway Park, from the gentle U-Drive or the Carousel to the exciting Adrenaline Test Zone and the Vortex roller coaster. If you’re getting hot, check out Riptide Racer or Timber Falls, the iconic ‘log ride.’ Your tickets also include access to the CP Spray n’ Play splash pad for cooling off.
When you need a break, stop by one of the unique shows. You can head to the 3D Theatre to watch Meg & the Quest for the Holy Spork or find multiple options on the Celebration Stage. You’ll want to get up and dance when you catch the newest shows, Once Upon A Whatever or Pop in the Park from Calaway Live!
Oh, yes, don’t forget to download the Calaway Fun AR app. You’ll see the Enchanted Forest or Maxx’s Workshop come to life. You can also use the app for some cool photos.
Are There Special Events at Calaway Park?
The best part about a ticket to Calaway Park is that it includes a full day of fun, including special events! Mark your calendars for the Calaway Comic Fest for Kids, a SUPER event in July. Don’t forget Halloweekends in the fall!
What Food Can I Buy at Calaway Park?
What are you in the mood for? It’s a kid-friendly, park-treat paradise at Calaway Park! From burgers and fries, chicken strips and onion rings, to power bowls and pizza, you’ll find something delicious for lunch. But leave room for treats! How will you decide between cotton candy, ice cream, mini donuts, churros, Beavertails, and so much more?! (You’ll just have to come again.) Don’t forget the treats at the Sweet Toothe Candy Shop.
What Should I Bring to Calaway Park?
There’s a lot of walking, so wear comfy shoes and feel free to bring a stroller or wagon for little legs. Bring hats, sunscreen, and water so you don’t overheat. But Calgary weather is unpredictable, so throw in a sweater, as the day can cool off rapidly. If you forget anything, take a look at The Village Shop, as they may have what you need. (Plus, they have all your souvenirs!)
