Calaway Park is calling all kids (and kids at heart!), because it’s time to laugh, make memories, and PLAY this summer! Plan some weekend fun, grab some friends, or turn your staycation into a PLAYCATION with affordable, family-friendly summer fun and entertainment at Calaway Park all summer long. It’s a Celebration of Fun for 40+1!
Calaway Park is Western Canada’s Largest Outdoor Family Amusement Park. The park opened its doors in 1982 and has grown from a small amusement park to one of Calgary’s best attractions! The park spans 160 acres and has a collection of 32 rides and 19 midway games, plus live entertainment, the Cinemagic 3D theatre, the Haunted Hotel, and the CP Spray n’ Play splash pad. With numerous attractions, top-notch entertainment, and rides for your wee ones right up through full-sized thrill-seekers, it’s fun for the whole family! And if you’re looking for the complete staycation experience, stay at the Calaway RV Park and Campground, just a short walk away. Spend the night under the stars and wake up with a view of the mountains.
Located only minutes west of the Calgary city limit, with a beautiful view of the Rocky Mountains, Calaway Park is easy to visit as often as you (or your kids!) want. Parents love the ‘one-pay’ gate admission, which includes unlimited rides, live entertainment, access to the 3D theatre, street performers, the CP Spray n’ Play and the Haunted Hotel, and plenty of free parking! Playcation Online Discount Tickets are available at www.calawaypark.com for $39 (+GST) per person, saving you 22% or you can stop by any Calgary Co-op to purchase Advantage discount tickets for $37 (+GST), saving you 26%.
All in all, it adds up to a fabulous day for the whole family, even before you throw in a treat from one of the 20 food vendors at the park. Mini donuts or cotton candy, anyone?!
Naturally, amusement park rides are the first thing you think of when you visit Calaway Park, and whether you have little ones riding their first carousel to thrill-seekers running to the roller-coaster, you’ll find rides everyone will love. There are height requirements, of course, but you’ll find lots of rides that are great for younger kids.
Calaway is known for their high-quality shows. Check back throughout the season for the most up-to-date entertainment schedule, and this spring, be amazed by such offerings as Malcolm Russell: Magic! Juggling! Comedy! or James Jordan: Vaudevillian Extraordinaire. At the beginning of summer, Calaway Park’s youth performers will debut the park’s 40+1 celebration, Young Forever, and they’ll also present Miss Unda Stood’s Villain Show. All shows are approximately 20 – 25 minutes long and make a great addition to a day of rides.
For a few extra dollars, you can challenge your kids to traditional fair games, with choices like Drop Zone, Wac-a-Mole, and Tin Can Alley. The Cinemagic 3-D Theatre brings you extra entertainment, included with your admission, and a chance to sit in an air-conditioned theatre, for a welcome break on a hot day! This year’s show is Wanted Alive. Or you can cool off at the CP Spray N’ Play splash park.
You can also add some additional magic to your Calaway day, by downloading the Calaway Fun AR app. This fun app brings you four augmented reality (AR) experiences that are available during your day at the park. Don’t forget to take some great family photos and submit them to the WOW Photo Contest that runs from May 21 to October 24, 2022, for a chance to win great prizes!
