On July 7, 2019, this one’s for the dogs. From 12 – 5 pm head to Bon A-Pet-Treat! Pet Bakery for their 7th annual FREE Puppy Pancake Brunch for your four-legged furry friends. Highlights include:

– Fundraiser for local rescues
– On-site caricatures and photo booth and much more!

Leash up your pooch and come out on Sunday, July 14, 2019, from 1 to 5 pm, for the second annual Tails & Treasures event at University District (4410 University Ave NW)! Completely dog-friendly, this free outdoor festival will include entertainment, food, activities, giveaways, a treasure map adventure, and contests for you and your dog. Read more about it here.
Pet-A-Palooza comes to Eau Claire Market on July 27 – 28, 2019. This is a free, pet-friendly, family event featuring such events as “Running Of The Bulls” (hilarious 20 ft French and English bulldog races), Wiener Dog races, a puppy stampede “ruff mud,” cool down stations, photo lounges and up to 85 of the leading pet related exhibitors. The Four Feet Companion Foundation Petfest will be at BowDog Canine Specialists (6909 Farrell Rd SE) on August 10 from 11 am – 3 pm. Enjoy a day of fun with your family and furry pet. Activity and games for all ages and your furry-footed friends! There will be prizes, games, BBQ, and something for everyone! Check out paw painting, face painting, a silent auction, and an agility setup for dogs. Free, but donations welcome. All proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the Four Feet Companion Foundation. There are lots of off-leash parks for dogs. The Jim Davidson Dog Park, in the southeast, is 10 acres of fully-fenced, off-leash fun. This unique area incorporates enhanced features like a digging pit, boardwalk, and interpretive signs into the design of the park. Or, take your pooch to the Sue Higgins Park, which is the largest fenced off-leash park in Calgary. It lies in the southeast along the Bow River. Read more about Calgary parks here.

Mastergroom Canada is the largest pet grooming competition, trade show and educational event in the country. It is to be held at the Crescent Point Field House just south of Okotoks, on the weekend of September 6 – 8, 2019. The popularity of dog grooming competitions gets larger every year, and it is super for people to come out and check out professional groomers skillfully grooming dogs under the watchful eyes of the international panel of judges! Families who adore dogs will love the Alberta Kennel Club’s Summer Classic dog show from August 2 – 5, 2019, at Spruce Meadows. This event is for everyone who loves dogs – or wants to learn more about them! Find out more about dog sports and responsible dog ownership and see some amazing breeds of all types of dogs strutting their stuff to claim the top prizes.
