We can raise good kids, but we also want to raise successful adults! One of the most important skills is communicating clearly and with respect. Good communication enhances every area of life. It improves the family dynamic, gives kids a voice in school, and sets them up for success. Debate Camp Calgary offers fun, inclusive, and intellectually engaging summer camps to help kids develop their debate skills.
We don’t just mean your kids will learn to argue! Campers will learn how to think and communicate effectively. These are vital lifelong skills. Kids will learn how to organize ideas, research, communicate concisely, and work together on a team. There will be public speaking, parliamentary debate, and Model United Nations activities. Kids will build the confidence to take them into a new school year, adolescence, and beyond.
Day Camps
Are you wondering what a day at Debate Camp looks like? Click here for a sample schedule. The daily schedule also includes organized games, impromptu speaking, drama, and interactive activities to ensure camp retains a fun and balanced approach to learning. Model United Nations simulations and mini-tournaments complete the week.
Kids are divided into small groups by age and experience, with a teacher-to-student ratio of 1:8. There is a strong focus on teamwork, as debates happen in 2-person and 4-person teams. Teams will prepare and engage in a parliamentary-style debate, with age-appropriate topics. For example, younger students might debate ‘school should only be 4 days a week’, while advanced debaters might argue for (or against) ‘the production of biofuels causes food insecurity’. Young speakers are generally amazed at how much they grow and develop in only one week. And how much fun they have!
Day camps run at Strathcona Tweedsmuir School, just outside of Calgary. Bus transportation is available from Calgary, with Debate Camp staff riding with the campers. There are two camp weeks to choose from: July 7 – 11 and August 11 – 15, 2025. These camps are for kids in grades 5 – 10 and run from 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM.

“My son thoroughly enjoyed the one-week debate camp. It was a fantastic experience for him, introducing him to the world of debate and allowing him to meet a diverse group of fascinating individuals. The camp’s environment was welcoming and supportive. He gained confidence in expressing his thoughts and ideas, even in front of large audiences.
