September is hands-down one of our favourite months of the year. Not only because school starts again, but September offers great weather, an abundance of fresh local produce, and the apples… oh, those apples! We also see so many amazing events in September.

This supernatural event promises a night filled with laughter, cheers, and mind-boggling magic. Mark your calendars for September 16, 2023, and join us at the Bellarose Arts Centre for an evening you won’t want to miss.

Halifax Fringe Festival (August 31- September 8): The Halifax Fringe Festival is an annual performing arts festival that has been around for the past 32 years. The Fringe includes theatre, music, circus, dance, comedy, education, and more!

Halifax Colour Festival (September 2): Get colourful at the 5th annual Halifax Colour Festival! The kids will have a ton of fun celebrating by throwing and chasing each other with non-allergenic biodegradable powdered colours.

Neat Repeats Consignment Sale (September 9): The first of the Fall kids consignment sales starts up with the Neat Repeats Consignment Sale in Hammonds Plains. Get the kids geared up for school or preschool without breaking the bank!

Gottingen Uptown Festival (September 9): Dance in the streets at the Gottingen Streetwide Block Party! Join in the fun with music, food trucks, local artisans, and an all around good time!

Open Street Halifax (September 17): Halifax Open Street is back! Agricola Street will be closing down on Sunday, September 17th. There will be lots to discover and explore across the city including, food trucks, music, games and family-friendly activities.

The Prismatic Arts Festival (September 29-October 8): The Prismatic Arts Festival is a national, multidisciplinary arts festival that showcases and celebrates innovative work by Indigenous artists and artists of colour across Canada.

Nova Scotia Open Farm Day (September 18): Have you ever wondered which local products are produced at Nova Scotia farms? Are your kids curious to learn where their food comes from? Open Farm Day creates the opportunity for Nova Scotians to visit local farms to share stories, ask questions, get involved and meet the farmers.

Nova Scotia Symphony Week (September 10-17): Symphony Nova Scotia celebrates its 12th annual Symphony Week with a series of free concerts and special events. Performances will include everything from children’s music to orchestral concerts featuring the entire Symphony.

The Halifax Mooseheads Season Regular Season Opener (September 22):  He shoots, he scores! The Halifax Mooseheads return for the 2022-23 hockey season at the Scotiabank Centre. Attend a couple of games or buy full-season tickets, this is a great way to cheer on our favourite city, watch the country’s favourite pass time, and make new memories with your family.

Mahone Bay Scarecrow Festival and Antique Fair (September 23-24): Beautiful Mahone Bay will be hosting their 24th Annual Scarecrow Festival. Highlights include special children’s activities and crafts, musical entertainment, historic graveyard tours, book sales, BBQ’s, yard sales and the largest antique show in the Maritimes.
