September is hands-down one of our favourite months of the year. September offers great weather, an abundance of fresh local produce, and the apples… oh, those apples! We also see so many amazing events in September.

Halifax Fringe Festival & Kids Fringe | September 3-13 | FREE Events

The Halifax Fringe Festival is an annual performing arts festival in its 35th year. The Fringe includes theatre, music, circus, dance, comedy, education, and more! New this year is Kids Fringe – 2 days of FREE accessible and artistic events at the Halifax Central Library.
Halifax Colour Festival | September 5
📍Alderney Landing, Dartmouth
Get colourful at the 10th annual Halifax Colour Festival! The kids will have a ton of fun celebrating by throwing and chasing each other with non-allergenic, biodegradable powdered colours.
Agricola Open Street | September 13 | FREE
📍Agricola Street, Halifax
Open Street is back! Agricola Street will be closed to traffic on Sunday, September 13th (rain date Sept. 20th). There will be lots to discover and explore across the city, including food trucks, music, games and family-friendly activities.
Atlantic International Film Festival | September 13-26
📍Cineplex Cinema, Park Lane Mall, Halifax
The Atlantic International Film Festival is a celebration of film and media from around the world. It’s a great activity for you and your film-loving teen, but be sure to check the ratings first.
Symphony Week | September 19-27 | FREE Events
📍Halifax Central Library & Other Venues
Symphony Nova Scotia kicks off its season with the 19th annual Symphony Week, with free concerts for all ages throughout the region. Performances include many genres, from children’s music to orchestral concerts featuring the entire Symphony.
Prismatic Arts Festival | September 26 – October 4
📍Various Venues
Based in Halifax, the Prismatic Arts Festival is a national, multidisciplinary arts festival that showcases and celebrates innovative work by Indigenous artists and artists of colour across Canada.
Mahone Bay Scarecrow Festival | September 25 – October 12 | FREE
📍Around Mahone Bay, NS
Watch the beautiful town of Mahone Bay come to life with over 250 handmade, life-size scarecrows. With pumpkin patches, kids’ activities and more, this is the perfect event to celebrate the joys of this magical season.
