What a fantastic way to spend Family Day!  Thank you to the ACT in Maple Ridge for booking Charlotte Diamond.  The concert was a complete sell-out; Charlotte Diamond is a phenomenal children’s performer. I remember Charlotte Diamond performing at my elementary school many moons ago.  Hearing her sing “Four Hugs

Posted on: January 15, 2014

Recently we had the wonderful opportunity to spend a weekend at Green Acres on Saltspring Island.  Earlier in the summer a friend raved about his experience at Green Acres and we knew we needed to check it out. The weekend we visited was a proper West Coast weekend: grey clouds,

Vivaldi’s Superb Ring of Mystery

Posted on: January 13, 2014

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s third performance of this year’s Kids’ Koncert series was, by far, my favourite. The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performed excerpts from more than 20 of Vivaldi’s creations.  The music was spectacular.  You know magic is happening when an audience packed with little kids is silent. Today’s performance

On the last day of Christmas holidays we let the kids decide how we would spend our day.  “Play Abby” was announced with roaring enthusiasm. Play Abby is located at 2043 Abbotsford Way.  Play Abby is a terrific indoor play structure; definitely one of our favourites.  There is oodles of

Review: Stunningly Perfect Nutcracker

Posted on: December 29, 2013

Ballet BC and Alberta Ballet have mounted a perfect version of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.  Never have I seen such a tight production (and I’ve seen MANY ballets and performed in a few too).  The corps was exceptional! Seeing a live performance of the Nutcracker has become an annual tradition for our

Brilliant Lights & Festive Singing on the Trolley Tour

Posted on: December 29, 2013

We had a GREAT time on the Karaoke Christmas Lights Tour with the Vancouver Trolley Company.  Spectacular lights, great tour guides, and enthusiastic (and some cases, talented) singing all made for a terrific night. We had the pleasure of participating in this event last year, and this year was equally

Perfection is Cavalia’s Odysseo

Posted on: December 10, 2013

It is near impossible to craft words sufficiently grandiose to describe Cavalia’s Odysseo.  I went in thinking “Cirque du Soleil with horses”.  While that isn’t wrong it is also a wildly insufficient comparison.  Yes there are breath-taking acrobatics; yes there are mind-blowing physical stunts; and yes there are horses.  But
