Coding is the future, and at UTG Academy, students learn valuable skills in programming, creative and critical thinking, and understanding current hi-tech tools used by industry experts. The focus at UTG Academy is not solely on the final product; along the way, kids build confidence with problem-solving, computational, and creative skills. Not only is learning made fun, but it is applicable to student interests and what they may need in the future.
UTG Academy provides exceptional STEM programs to students in grades 1-12. Experienced instructors help students learn the tools they need to create anything they can imagine. Whether your child is a beginner just starting on their coding journey, or they are well on their way to building incredible things, the UTG Map of Success outlines the coding journey at each step of the way and what students can expect to learn and be able to do as they progress through courses.
This Fall, register your child for one of the hands-on, interactive camps at UTG Academy in coding, robotics, or a special coaching class for those entering the SFU Canadian Coding League.
Coding:
Learn the fundamentals of coding beginning with Python and working their way through increasingly challenging tasks that will lead them into web development, Java, Canadian Computing Competitions, and other programming fields. During the weekly one-hour programs, students will build strong technical skills while using creative and critical thinking. At the end of each term, students will showcase a project they’ve learned, which might be a coding portfolio, a unique game, or another valuable coding achievement.
Robotics:
Join this signature program at UTG Academy and see how innovation and engineering collide! Students will meet twice weekly to learn the fundamentals of coding through hands-on building their very own robot. VEX Robotics, a global platform that inspires and engages students, and encourages teamwork, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills. Each year, students in the Robotics program work toward qualifying for Provincials.
All classes are available at UTG Academy locations in Kitsilano, North Vancouver, Burnaby and Coquitlam. Interested in the programs but not close enough to an in-person location? UTG Academy also offers online classrooms so kids and youth can learn valuable skills from wherever they are. Register today and prepare for an inspiring and educational Fall semester.
