The weather ahead looks great, August is flying by, and there are only 2 weekends left until Labour Day weekend (gulp!). But don’t worry, we have lots of fun things happening in our city this weekend, August 18 – 20th! Keep reading for some ideas for your family.
Come down to Shaw Millennium Park on Friday and Saturday and feel the beat at the Calgary Reggae Festival!
Make a short drive out of town on Saturday or Sunday and experience a genuine country fair with your family. Pie-eating contest? Yes, please!
If you’d rather have a more “on-site” country experience, check out Alberta Open Farm Days to visit some of the actual farms and producers in our area.
Global Fest start on August 15th, so come check it out and enjoy the fireworks on Saturday night! This year, in honour of Canada’s 150th, the fireworks are presented by different provinces.
Calgary Opera in the Village is still running this weekend with a fun production of South Pacific. Or you can introduce your kids to the opera with a special production of Cinderella. While you’re there, check out the Inglewood Fine Arts Pop-Up Gallery.
6. Stay Cool
We have lots of ideas to stay cool this summer! Head to a wading pool or a splash park. (Bowness Wading Pool is now open!) Take the Plunge at WinSport! (It’s a 3-lane 810-foot waterslide, reaching speeds of up to 30 km/h, so grab a tube and give it a slide. It’s only open weekends, so now is your chance!) See our Beat the Heat post for more ideas!
