What’s Happening in July? Family-Friendly Events in Calgary This Month

Oh, sweet summer, how I love thee. The warmth of the sun, a good thunderstorm, the long, light evenings, and playing outside. Of course, I also hear certain requests on a continuous loop. “Can we have . . . friends over, another snack, a lemonade stand, and screen time?” But Calgary has terrific summer events for families to keep everyone occupied and happy, and July holds so much fun. Lougheed House Garden Festival (Family Fun Calgary)

Lougheed House Garden Festival

It’s time for a summer party! The beautiful Lougheed House is inviting you to a Garden Festival from July 20 – 27, 2019. They have lots of free family fun planned, especially on July 27, 2019. Come enjoy kid-friendly activities like sponge relay races, bubble bounce, and a kinetic sand table. There will be live music, tours of the Lougheed House, and food and drink for sale. Canada Day Guide (Family Fun Calgary)

Of course, July starts off with a bang and Canada Day celebrations all over Calgary. We’ve done our best to compile the ultimate guide to great events all day in Calgary and area, and ending with the fireworks show. (Is this the year you let your kids stay up to watch it?)




Michaels Camp Creativity (Family Fun Calgary)

Besides Kids’ Club and MakeBreak, Michaels Stores are also running Camp Creativity all summer long! It’s only $3 and a great way to get kids crafting, without having any mess at home.





Saturdays on 17th (Family Fun Calgary)

17th Avenue is hosting Saturdays on 17th this July. It includes live music, games, giveaways, and outdoor movies in Tomkins Park and it’s all free!





The 2016 Calgary Stampede runs July 8-17, 2016 (Family Fun Calgary).

Okay, I know you don’t need me to tell you about the Calgary Stampede. Happening over 10 days this July, Calgary is filled with a special energy. We have useful links to lots of information here.





Cabelas (Family Fun Calgary)

Need an excuse to head to Cabela’s this summer? Check out the Cabela’s “summer camp” activities for kids most of July. Kids can enjoy games, activities, casting, and workshops. Or find similar fun at Bass Pro Shops.





The Calaway Park ComicFest for Kids takes place this July. Your mission, if you choose to accept it (don’t worry – it’s easy!): come to the park to experience Calaway like you never have before! Also in July, Calaway Park is hosting Family Fun Friday Nights, for some summer evening fun.




RCMP Musical Ride (Family Fun Calgary)

The RCMP Musical Ride is coming to the Calgary area with stops in both Cochrane and Carstairs. Enjoy this cool, patriotic event!





Calgary Summer Festivals (Family Fun Calgary)

Pet-A-Palooza (Family Fun Calgary)

Pet-A-Palooza is at Eau Claire Market during the last weekend of July. This is a free, pet-friendly, family event featuring great events, vendors, and exhibits.
