It would be too hard to list all the reasons the Okanagan valley of Canada is so incredible, but “top wine making region” certainly factors up there for me! Coming from a Greek family, wine was a part of every special occasion. I recall feeling extra important when at Christmas my mom would put a teeny liquor glass with a sip or two of wine at my seat so I could to celebrate with the grown ups. That’s why I’m looking forward to taking our kids to the Okanagan October 5 to celebrate the annual Festival of the Grape in Oliver, BC.
Wine making is so often a family business and the region’s wine makers celebrate the grape harvest and family at their festival with the “Chateau de Kids” Fun Zone, a gated, area with kid-friendly activities including a Circus Skills Workshop (Juggling! Spinning Plates!), Petting Farm, pony rides and Clown Fun Inflatable City with slide, bouncers & obstacles. I’m looking forward to the “GIANT” Games including super sized versions of Pick up Sticks and Jenga!
And best of all Kids under 19 get in free!
Festival of the Grape 2014 will also features a wine and food pairing tent, 50+ Okanagan wineries offering tastings, 15 food trucks, and most awesome of all, a barefoot grape stomping competitions for kids and adults!
