Take a ride on the Pride of Canada Carousel in Markham!

Downtown Markham, Ontario got a boost of national pride on Canada Day with the grand opening of the Pride of Canada, an interactive sculpture in the guise of a carousel. Sculpted from found materials by husband Patrick Amiot and lovingly painted by wife Bridgette Laurent, each of the 44 figures have something fun and special to say about Canada. Built under a glass enclosure to protect riders and art alike from the elements, you can choose to ride on characters including a Mountie, a moose, a giant skate and the most Canadian of all, a beaver!

The Pride of Canada is part of a $25 million public art initiative and is set to become the centrepiece of The Remington Contemporary Art Gallery (RCAG) in Markham.

The Pride of Canada is located at 162 Enterprise Blvd. and Birchmount in Markham. Tickets to ride can be purchased for $2.
