The Christmas season isn’t complete without a miracle or two, and the WestJet Christmas Miracle is one Fort McMurray residents won’t soon forget!

WestJet is known for its corny jokes, April Fool’s pranks, and big heart! This year, Blue Santa paid a visit to residents of Fort McMurray who were devastated by the May 2016 forest fires. Families still struggling to pick up the pieces were invited to attend a special ‘Snowflake Soiree’ hosted by the airline, but they had no idea what was in store!

2016 is a year that many Albertans are looking forward to forgetting. The province has struggled with economic hardship, the loss of beloved friends and entertainers and, perhaps most notably, the loss of over 2400 homes and vital community structures  in Fort McMurray this spring. It is the costliest disaster in Canadian history, and the community is still struggling to rebuild all that was lost. WestJet wanted Fort McMurray to know that they have not been forgotten! That’s why, in the spirit of the season, forty-eight dedicated employees worked tirelessly to create a magical Christmas surprise for these deserving Albertans!

Get out the tissue! You’re going to need it…

Over 800 people were in attendance at the WestJet Christmas Miracle Snowflake Soiree.
