We have so many privileges living in Canada, and this July 1, it’s time to celebrate our country and make some memories with our families. We’re collecting all the best Canada Day events we can find in and around Calgary, so get out there and embrace every opportunity!

Calaway Park
It’s all fun and games at Calaway Park this Canada Day! Be sure to stop by the Canada Day Station for flags and pins.

Central Library
Head downtown this Canada Day and join the Calgary Public Library for free Canada Day activities at Central Library. Activities will include a special storytime, musical performances, and a citizenship ceremony for new Canadians.

Chinese Cultural Centre
The Chinese Cultural Centre is hosting a celebration of Canada’s birthday. Enjoy cultural performances and family-friendly activities, or visit the wonderful stores and indulge your taste buds with culinary delights.

City of Calgary Canada Day and Fireworks
This Canada Day, gather the family, as the City of Calgary is celebrating all Canadians and what makes us who we are. Learn more about Indigenous culture and enjoy a full day of music, entertainment, and fireworks.

The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland
Head to The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland for an Indigenous Artisan Market and Indigenous Showcase and Powwow. Sport Calgary will also be there with fun activities, like inflatable soccer, luge, biathlon, and ski jumping.

East Village Street Fair
Celebrate Canada’s birthday at the East Village Street Fair. Visit vendors and food trucks and enjoy music and activities for all ages.

Eau Claire Plaza
Head to Eau Claire Plaza for family-friendly Canada Day fun! You’ll enjoy live entertainment and kid-friendly activities, like face painting. Plus, enjoy the food vendors, urban beach, and playground.

Granary Road
Head to Granary Road for a day filled with family fun, outdoor adventure, and extra Canada Day celebrations, including face painting, wagon rides, and inflatables!

Heritage Park
Celebrate Canada Day at Heritage Park with special events and all the Canada Day fun you love! Heritage Park is offering a jam-packed day of activities, events, entertainment, and family fun.

Prairie Winds Park
Enjoy your friends and family and celebrate by participating in the annual Canada Day celebrations hosted by Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at at Prairie Winds Park. Enjoy a free BBQ, displays and educational activities run by various City departments, and numerous fun activities and games for kids.

Prince’s Island Park
Head to Prince’s Island Park for Canada Day. Enjoy the playground and picnic spots, a family-friendly beer garden, and the Coke Canada Rest & Refresh Area. The Main Stage Show features free performances from Canadian talent, too.

Sien Lok Park
There’s a Canada Day celebration at the Sien Lok Park and the nearby municipal building. Enjoy hands-on cultural activities, including a dragon walk, a lion dance, and a fashion show. Stop by the Coke Canada Rest & Refresh Area and check out the food vendors, too!

Spruce Meadows
Spruce Meadows is planning a Canada Day party, and you’re invited! There will be activities for the whole family throughout the day. Enjoy a live outdoor concert with Brett Kissel, show jumping, corgi races, a Kids’ Zone, Lord Strathcona’s Horse Musical Ride, shopping, and more. There’s a complimentary BBQ, as well, but only while supplies last.

The King Eddy
Celebrate this Canada Day, King Eddy-style, with live music! The King Eddy is presenting a family-friendly bash in celebration of Canada’s birthday. There’s no cover fee, and you’ll hear live music on the main floor and the rooftop for music lovers of all ages.

Studio Bell
Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre (NMC), is ready to rock for Canada’s birthday! Explore Canada’s rich musical history with FREE admission. Enjoy live performances and hands-on activities for the family, including A Sharon, Lois & Bram Singalong with Sharon & Randi, celebrating the iconic children’s music catalogue.

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo Canada Day
This Canada Day, celebrate at the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, with moose, beavers and maple, oh my! Kick off the long weekend in red-and-white style while you visit your animal friends at the zoo.

Looking to celebrate Canada Day outside the city? Here are some Canada Day celebrations not too far away.

Airdrie
Celebrate Canada Day in Airdrie and start the day off with a parade at 10 am on Main Street. (Note that the route has changed this year due to construction.) Enjoy the day, including CultureFest, and then you can usually head over to Chinook Winds Park at 10:45 pm (dusk) for fireworks!

Banff
The Town of Banff is the perfect place to celebrate Canada’s birthday on July 1! Fantastic family-friendly events run throughout the day, as the town has a full day of Canada Day fun planned, with live music and special activities.

Bar U Ranch
This Canada Day, ride into history on a wagon pulled by Percheron horses to discover the life of a ranching cowboy from the late 1800s at the Bar U Ranch National Historic Site. It’s a true Alberta experience! There is FREE admission on Canada Day and lots of family activities.

Canmore
This Canada Day, head to the mountains and experience all that Canmore has to offer. There’s a pancake breakfast, a fun run, a parade at 12 pm, live music, and lots more.

Chestermere
Canada Day in Chestermere includes a pancake breakfast, a kids’ zone, wagon rides, a petting zoo, an artisan market, a birthday cake, and fireworks. It’s a fun day by the lake!

Cochrane
Cochrane is celebrating Canada Day with an all-day celebration! Head to Mitford Park from 12 – 11 PM for loads of family fun, live entertainment, food trucks, and, of course, fireworks!

Millarville Races
The Millarville Races have been an annual tradition since 1905. See the horse races, plus there are children’s races throughout the day, beer gardens with live music, and some amazing vendors from the Millarville Farmers’ Market.

Okotoks
Join the Canada Day celebration in Okotoks with family fun! Enjoy live music, games, multicultural entertainment, and family activities from 11 AM – 4 PM. You can also check out the FREE swim sessions at the Recreation Centre. Then, watch the fireworks at 10:45 pm at Bill Robertson Park (formerly Riverside Community Park).

Strathmore Canada Day
Strathmore is putting on a Canada Day bash for the whole family! Find loads of free family entertainment, food, live music, and of course, fireworks. The day will start with a $5/person pancake breakfast at the Strathmore Fire Hall and continue with all sorts of things that kids love at Kinsmen Park.
