Did we survive the time change? (I’m always feeling a little jealous of my friends in Saskatchewan this time of year.) It’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend, and there are SO MANY great events happening in the city – Irish blood or not! Plus, we’re planning for March break over here, with a spring break event guide and spring break camp guide. Enjoy the slightly warmer weather (and apparently fresh snow) and happy weekend to everyone!
Join Green Fools Theatre as they present A Day in the Life of Myrtle. Through the beauty of clown, Green Fools Theatre and Judith Mendelsohn explore what it’s like to be different and celebrate what makes us each unique. Especially geared towards 4 – 9-year-olds, this is a heart-warming show for the whole family.
This weekend is the Spruce Meadows Spring Welcome (Don’t you like the sound of that?) The Spring Welcome is the perfect tournament to experience competition up-close and in the indoor comfort of the Equi-Plex. Plus, it’s free.
The Cineplex Family Favourites, every Saturday at 11 am, offer movie tickets for only $2.99 each, which is just about right when you’re buying multiple tickets! This week they’re playing Shrek.

Green Fools Theatre is an original theatre company in the heart of Calgary that has been performing and teaching circus arts, stilts, puppetry, and theatre since 1991. They are Western Canada’s leader in Social Circus, a global movement that engages circus arts with youth at risk. With theatre shows that delight audiences, both locally and internationally, they are proficient in storytelling and creating a magical, theatrical world that offers insight to the real world. This March, Green Fools Theatre is thrilled to present A Day in the Life of Myrtle, a tale of courage and belonging. Through the expertise of clowning around, the theatre delicately weaves the story of Myrtle. Myrtle is 7 years old and doesn’t speak, but she’s a master in creativity. Unfortunately, her incredible imagination gets her in trouble at school and deserted by other kids. It’s hard for Myrtle to fit in anywhere and feel like she belongs. Those who care for Myrtle are worried about her and wonder how she can use her gifts to shine in the world. Understanding that the world can be a difficult place is not the end, as children and adults can be inspired by Myrtle’s perseverance and the belief in herself. This heart-warming show for the whole family explores what makes us different, what it feels like, and how to celebrate what makes us unique.
