60 must be the new 30, because Disneyland is turning 60 years old this year and looking better than ever! The gates to this beloved theme park were first opened by Walt Disney on July 17, 1955 and, in the 60 years since, over 3 billion magical guest visits have taken place. But Disneyland is not resting on its laurels or heading for retirement. Rather, it plans to celebrate the past 6o years and all the exciting years to come, with a ‘forever young’ super-party!
Beginning May 22, 2015, Disneyland will be rolling out three new nighttime spectaculars that are sure to dazzle guests. Disneyland Park will glitter with the “Paint the Night” parade and “Disneyland Forever” fireworks, both featuring the latest technology and immersive special effects. At Disney California Adventure Park, the new “World of Color” show will have everyone’s favourite rodent, Mickey Mouse, telling the story of Walt Disney and his Happiest Place on Earth through film, fountains, animation, new music and exciting visual effects.
The parks, resorts and surrounding streets will be decked out for the celebrations, with Diamond Celebration décor and banners. To add to the experience, Disneyland is rolling out specialty merchandise and food creations bearing the diamond anniversary theme.
All this extra glitz and excitement makes 2015 a fantastic time to experience (or revisit) the Happiest Place on Earth.
Happy 60th Birthday Disneyland and thank you for all the magic!
