It’s May! And May means a proper spring in Calgary, with warmer weather, fresh new leaves, and the excitement of the first long weekend of ‘summer.’ I love moving the dirty boots out of my entry, packing up the snow pants, and watching the world come back to life. Jubilations Junior | Saturdays until May 30, 2026

Community Garage Sales | Weekends
Oh, I do love going to garage sales to find all the things I never knew I needed! Hunting for the best deals takes time, but when so many communities host a Parade of Garage Sales, you can easily hit lots of garage sales in one day, without a lot of driving. We’re compiling a list of community sales as we find out about them.
Day Out With Thomas | May 2 – 3 and 9 – 10, 2026

Calgary’s Anime Convention, Otafest, celebrates Japanese art, culture, and media in the Canadian community. You can look forward to a marketplace & art exhibition, media guests, video gaming and competitions, cosplay showcases, musical concerts, improv and live performances, educational panels about Japanese culture, and of course, anime screenings.
Bike Parks and Pump Tracks
Check out one of these bike parks or pump tracks! Whether your kids are just beginning to ride their balance bike or amaze you with their tricks, check out these Calgary and area bike parks for a summer filled with active, and usually free, fun. They are a fantastic way to get outside and stay active!

It’s a good month to escape to a park! Now that my kids aren’t so little, playgrounds are often an attraction, but parks hold so much more than that for us these days.
