Fall is a unique and fleeting season in Calgary. The weather is still usually warm, although you feel the crispness in the morning air. The landscape is beautiful for the brief moment that the colour stays on the trees and the kids are back at school, and hopefully, excited for a brand-new year. Find a day to slow down and enjoy the moment, because you know it goes way too fast. We’ve rounded up some great September events in Calgary for your family.
The Cochrane Lions Club Rodeo runs over the Labour Day weekend, from September 1 – 4, 2023. Don’t miss the parade on Labour Day Monday!
Cirque Du Soleil is running all month long, presenting the fantastic Kooza. Cirque describes the show in this way, “A return to our origins, KOOZA combines acrobatic performance and the art of clowning, while exploring fear, identity, recognition and power.”
Every Saturday this September, you can enjoy lunch and a show with Jubilations Junior! They are presenting The Secret Life of Trolls for a wonderful family time out, filled with good food and laughter.
Halloweekends at Calaway Park kicks off on September 9, 2023, and runs every Saturday and Sunday (and Thanksgiving Monday) until October 9, 2023. Get some extra fun out of that Halloween costume and enjoy the new scenes and activities at the park.
All aboard for Railway Days at Heritage Park! From September 9 – 10, 2023, enjoy all the fun you’ve come to expect from Heritage Park, plus a wide variety of unique activities that will fascinate rail enthusiasts. Trains take centre stage for two days of demonstrations, hands-on activities, and exciting exhibits.
The RBC Race for the Kids is on September 10, 2023. It’s a fun family run that includes entry to Heritage Park and supports the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation as they fund child mental health programs and services.
Alberta Culture Days takes place all month long, with a wide variety of interactive activities throughout the province, many of which are free.
It’s time for pumpkin farms and corn mazes, and the Calgary Farmyard Corn Maze begins Harvest Lights and Pumpkin Lovin’ Fall Days starting on September 15, 2023. Both events will run until the weekend before Halloween.
The Calgary Fall Home Show kicks off on September 29, 2023, to help you be inspired and excited about your home. (And just in time for the colder weather to keep us housebound.) You’ll find expert advice at every turn here.
