I know some people just love fall. (Personally, I get the blues when September hits.) The weather is still usually warm, although you feel the crispness in the air most mornings. The landscape is beautiful for the brief moment that the colour stays on the trees and the kids are back at school, hopefully excited and ready for a brand-new year. Find a day to slow down and enjoy the moment, because you know it goes way too fast. We’ve rounded up some fun family events for you this September.
Halloweekends at Calaway Park kicks off on September 7, 2019, and runs every Saturday and Sunday (and Thanksgiving Monday) until October 14, 2019. Get some extra fun out of that Halloween costume and enjoy the new scenes and activities at the park.
Enjoy Labour Day weekend with a giant BBQ. It’s BBQ on the Bow at Shouldice Park. The event itself is free to attend and aims to provide something for all ages. Come out and enjoy food demonstrations, music, beer gardens, a kid zone, and a marketplace. (September 1, 2019, is the last day.)
Cirque du Soleil is in town with a delightful dream of Mexico. Immerse yourself in Cirque du Soleil’s breathtaking performances and visual delights until September 22, 2019.
September 7 & 8, 2019, brings the Calgary Produce Marketing Association Harvest Sale at Heritage Park. Spend some time in Heritage Park’s Historical Village and stop by to stock up on some fresh fruits and vegetables, offered at prices reminiscent of days past! Seriously, bring a wagon, because it’s so great.
Oh, yeah! September 7 – 8, 2019, is Monster Jam. Watch the spectacular stunts and thundering races. Your family will be thrilled by these world-class drivers offering their classic, high-octane entertainment! (My family was thrilled once I passed out the earplugs.)
The Calgary Fall Home Show kicks off on September 19, 2019, to help you be inspired and excited about your home. (And just in time for the colder weather to keep us house-bound.) Save some money on tickets by purchasing your tickets online.
Fall is a great time for apples, so come check out the Kiwanis Apple Festival on September 21 and 22, 2019, at Kamp Kiwanis. Celebrate the arrival of Autumn with a day of apple-themed family fun at the annual Kiwanis Apple Festival. There will be apple baking, arts and crafts, a bouncy castle, face painting, games, a farmers market, live entertainment, a silent auction & more! The event itself is free and proceeds will support Kamp Kiwanis.
The Brix n Blox LEGO Show and Fan Expo on September 14, 2019, is a LEGO lover’s dream!
