Thank you to the last year of great Family Fun! Here is our best of 2024 in Saskatoon. Every year, I like to do a recap and pick a few favourites from each month. Most of these will be back in 2025 so you will have a chance to check it out for the first or second time. Thank you to all our readers for your support this year. It’s been such a great year full of amazing events.
Most months, we’ve also had many visits to Saskatoon Libraries, the Saskatoon Farmers’ Market, playgrounds, lots of walks by the river, watched the sky do amazing things and of course tried out some tobogganing hills.
Best of 2024 in Saskatoon

Wanuskewin 2024
We kept ourselves pretty busy in January. It sometimes feels like a bit of a slower month but we got to visit some of our favourites. We went ice fishing (before the snow hit! The ice was see-through!). We went to Wanuskewin and the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo. You can visit the Saskatoon Zoo until March. We joined in Community Events and went snowshoeing at Cranberry Flats. We also went to our first Winterruption and we LOVED it.

Kona Festival at Wanuskewin
February brought more fun. We had some Valentine’s Fun and enjoyed a week off of school. I got to participate in the Wintershines Soup-off and my son and I loved exploring the fun at Wintershines. We also went to the Kona Festival and went on our first dog sled ride. (We’re waiting for details on the festival this year! The end of February also brought us some much needed snow so we could do some sledding!

Homestyles at Prairieland
March was full of snowy fun. We had our first blizzard of the year that came with some days off school to play. We built snowmen, sledded, and spent time at the library. We went to Homestyles on their Family Day and had a lot of fun. March and April were the months my son had ALL the colds so we didn’t do as much as we had hoped but we were able to get a few events in. We loved our visit to the Draggins Rod and Custom Car Show.

Crocus Prairie Park
April was another month we were working on getting healthy but we found some fun. We spent some of it doing crafts and puddle jumping. We went for hikes to search for the crocus blooms. As the weather continued to warm up we spent a lot of time outside walking, biking, avoiding ticks and playing with the dog. My friend and I took our little ones to The Little Mermaid at Persephone Theatre.

Dinosaur World Live at TCU.
Beautiful May gave us a chance to go to the opening of Gather Local Market downtown. This month is also referred to as Green House shopping month, Mother’s Day month and my son’s birthday month. We spent time at greenhouses, we went to Farmer’s Markets and we did a lot of biking. We went to some summer craft fairs, we went to Dinosaur World Live and we saw Theatre in the Park by Sum Theatre.

The Children’s Festival
We started June off with a visit to the Spring Fling on Broadway Avenue. It was so much fun and featured local vendors, dancing, fun for kids and more. We also went to Saskatoon’s famous Children’s Festival. This is always a great event for families in Saskatoon. The month continued to keep us busy and having fun with a stop at Northern Lights Bluegrass At the Barn. We spent A LOT of time outside including a visit to the new Spray Pad in Kensington. June is also a great month because the rides at Nutrien Playland at Kinsmen Park are a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Our June ended with fun end-of-school activities and getting to be at the ground-breaking for the new library.

Canada Day
July was busy and warm. We celebrated Canada Day in Saskatoon. A lot of our July was spent travelling to Ontario and stopping at lakes and campgrounds along the way. We ended the month back in Saskatoon with a trip to Blackstrap.

Saskatoon Fringe
August was SO busy making up for lost time. The Saskatoon Fringe is something I look forward to every summer. My son and I almost made it every day. We went to the Saskatoon Ex in August and we made sure to get as many outside adventures as we could. My family and I also went camping for a week in Candle Lake and had such a good time – even while fighting the mosquitoes. We also went to a brand new festival in Saskatoon that we hope returns yearly – the YXE Urban Games were an absolute blast. The month also included Aviation Days, Trucktastic and more trips to Nutrien Playland at Kinsmen Park. We also said goodbye to August with a bang at the Fireworks Festival.

Doylefest
The start of school doesn’t stop our adventures. We went to Eagle Creek Regional Park to go to our first (of many) Doylefest music festivals. To say we loved it would be an understatement. We did some corn mazes and had a great trip to Moose Jaw.

Pumpkins After Dark
October brought us some beautiful weather and stunning colours. We went to the Rosetown Harvest Festival for our second time and played in leaves. Halloween fun was the theme and we started with a visit to Pumpkins After Dark. We’re excited to make this a new tradition. We had fall walks and made sure to stop by Beaver Creek to feed the chickadees.

BHP Enchanted Forest Walk
We did the BHP Enchanted Forest walk. As always, we were enchanted by the beautiful lights. We also walked through the Festival of Trees at the Western Development Museum. The Christmas fun continued with the always-wonderful Santa Claus Parade. The snow came earlier than last year so we spent a lot of time in the snow and started our winter fun outside. My son was also really excited to see Santa at the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum.

Glow Saskatoon
And finally, December. A beautiful month filled with Christmas cheer and if you wanted, you could find an event every single weekend. We spent the month going to Christmas Markets, finding Santa sightings and we even had an after-Christmas visit to Glow Saskatoon.
We did a lot this year and I still feel like there’s so much more to do in this city! Happy New Year to you all. May 2025 be as full of Saskatoon events and family fun.
