The calendar is insisting that spring is coming. Even in Calgary. The evenings get longer (too bad we have to lose an hour of sleep for that) and the weather could start warming up. I hope. And many schools have a week off! Check out some fun things to do in Calgary during March 2019.
Springtime is maple syrup time! Head over to Heritage Park on March 2 or 3 and check out the Calgary Maple Festival, a two-day festival featuring French Canadian, Métis and First Nations folkloric music and dances, demonstrations, workshops, story-telling and exhibits. And don’t forget that sweet treat Canadians love!
Spring break is right around the corner. If you’re looking for a more structured plan for the week off, we’re working hard on building a convenient guide to spring break camp ideas in Calgary this year. Even if Mom and Dad don’t have to work, sometimes camp is just plain fun.
The Calgary Baby and Tot Show is March 9 and 10. Find out everything you need to know for children from bump to school-age. Families will enjoy parented play areas, arts and crafts, and ongoing entertainment for the whole family. This spring, be sure to meet Chase from Paw Patrol!
The Red & White Calgary Comic & Toy Expo is taking place on March 10 at McMahon Stadium. Plan a costume for the contest (not just for kids!), enter to win great prizes, and enjoy comics, toys, and games for all ages!
Spruce Meadows is warming up for the season! The Winter Farewell takes place March 7 – 10 and the Spring Welcome is March 14 – 17. Don’t worry about the weather, both of these events take place indoors.
Catch dinner (lunch) and a show. Jubilations Jr. is presenting A Toy’s Story until mid-March.

From March 17 – 19, Earth Science for Society is holding a free, family-friendly event where you can visit four themed pavilions including Energy for Us, Resources and You, One Dynamic Earth and Our Future! Hands-on, interactive exhibits demonstrate the importance of the Earth Sciences in our everyday lives.
Come claim the luck of the Irish and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the Calgary Farmers Market. You can enjoy live entertainment like fiddlers and Irish dancers.
Earth Hour is on March 30! You can take part at home, of course, OR you could head down to St. Patrick’s Island for Calgary Unplugged, a fun event where we can raise environmental awareness together with games, hot chocolate, and bike-powered music and lights.
